A drop trailer program is a logistics strategy where a trucking carrier drops off a trailer at a customer’s location—such as a warehouse, manufacturing plant, or distribution center—and then leaves without waiting for it to be loaded or unloaded. The trailer remains at the facility until it is ready, at which point the carrier returns to pick up the loaded or empty trailer.
This is different from traditional "live loading" or "live unloading" operations, where the driver must wait onsite during the loading/unloading process.
